The man #Shortstories

“…(Aprurchen) Approaching (Muitela) Murtala Mohammmed airport at a speed of …and 10,000 feet above sea level. (Purhleaseahrjuhrstur) Please adjust your sit belts and prepare for landing”

Open your mouth and let us hear what you are saying biko.

There is mild tension in the air. It would disappear as soon as the plane lands. It is not the presence of trust issues. It is a question of how a man places his life in the hands of a pilot who appears to have lost his identity.

“Sir, please adjust your sit belt and sit up. Sir, please adjust your sit belt and sit up…Sir please adjust your, Sir wake up, Sir…Sir…”

Chineke me! Is he dead? Jesus Christ, how long has he been dead? So there has been a dead body on this plane? Wait, is his spirit maybe hovering over our heads in utter confusion crying profusely for help? My God!

Okay calm down, calm down. This is not creepy, people die all the time. He was once alive; his present inability to breathe doesn’t turn him all of a sudden into an evil ghost capable of haunting your life.

Okay wait, I am calm. Just wait,I said wait ah…ehen, so what if I walk up to him and command him to rise…

Lol. Maybe you should first consider resurrecting your dead spiritual life you know. But wait, sit down and reason this out. Just imagine you walk up there now and you pray for like 15 minutes and the man doesn’t shake (chaii), would you continue in hope or end it and erm… would the end be as thunderous as the beginning still filled with confidence in God or it’ll hold a note of resignation to fate. What about the walk of shame back to your sit with all eyes on you? Better sit down and respect yourself, it is not here that you would come and start forming assistant Holy Spirit.

But I have faith, I believe …and if I have faith even as little as a mustard seed, I would speak to mountains and they would be moved, I am sure this man can wake up. But, what if? Ooooh ah I bind this voice of doubt. I believe.

Ehen, “Mr I can move the mountains” lol remember “but let him ask in faith, nothing wavering, because he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea…he shall not receive anything from the Lord”.

So do I doubt? Not at all. I believe in God’s power to raise this man after all He has done it before. And Christ lives in me, the hope of glory, so I’ll march up there just as Christ would…

Loool please are you sure Christ still lives in you with the plenty *yamanyama things that go on inside this your head. Christ *kor, Christ *ni.

I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus so no more condemnation, and though my sins were as red as scarlet, he has washed me with his blood and now I am as white as snow…I am stepping out…Wait, what about God’s will? What if it is God’s will for him to die, so you want to go and interfere with God’s will ehn? Yo,go o…hmm I am just looking at you.

Really, how can it be God’s will for a man this young to die? Didn’t he say he would satisfy us with long life. In fact sef, why have I wasted this much time arguing with myself, I am going.

The plane hits a bump.
The man.
His eyes fly open.
He really is just a deep sleeper.

*yamayanma – not a good sight to behold

*kor and ni – yoruba exclamations that mean “indeed”
